We are holding an open house in conjunction with our 2008 membership drive.
Please stop by to say hello, tour our facilities and equipment, meet some of our
current members and ask any questions you may have.
VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED!
The East Haddam Ambulance Association has been in existance for 40 years.
Over that time our call volume has grown dramatically. Unfortunately, our
volunteer base has not. Approximately 15 individuals currently are available
to answer these calls - and a minimum of two responders are needed for each call.
This situation has led to too many instances where we have been unable to respond
to a call for help from one of our residents. Perhaps it was you, or your
neighbor. If not, it could be. Our ability to continue providing this
service is now in question, and only you - the people of East Haddam - can determine
the answer. If our organization does not grow to meet the needs of the increased
population, the cost to the town, and the increase in your taxes, will be significant.
Estimates for hiring an outside service are in the range of $750,000 annually.
Please consider joining us and helping your fellow citizens. Participation
does involve some sacrifice and inconvenience but also provides great rewards -
the sense of fulfillment that comes from helping others in need, the opportunity
to work with the other talented and dedicated people, and the chance to make some
great friends.
Our next training course for new members will begin in January, 2009 - all costs
are reimbursed. No prior medical training is required; most of our members
had no specific medical training before to joining the organization. |
